The Opticianry Program at the Vocational School of Health Services of Toros University is an associate degree program that aims to educate qualified opticians capable of adapting to contemporary technological developments through an educational approach that integrates theoretical and practical training and enables students to comprehend the relationship between theory and practice. The program seeks to train individuals who possess the theoretical and technical knowledge required by the profession, can identify and solve professional problems, and contribute to the protection and improvement of public visual health.
An active learning approach is adopted throughout the educational process, allowing students to apply the knowledge acquired in theoretical courses within laboratory settings. Through practical courses, students gain comprehensive experience in measurement procedures, lens assembly, and the use of optical instruments within an integrated educational framework.
The 3+1 applied education model included in the program enables students to establish direct interaction with the sector and gain professional experience. This structure is designed to strengthen graduates’ professional competencies and ensure that they are well-prepared for working life.
The program provides education in areas such as optical instruments, ophthalmic lenses and frame technologies, technical measurement methods, sales and marketing strategies, ocular anatomy, and applications related to visual health. Through the courses offered in the curriculum, students develop their professional competencies and acquire the knowledge and skills required by the optical sector.
Established in the 2014–2015 academic year, the program continues its educational activities in line with a continuous improvement approach.
