Department Of Translation And Interpreting

The Department of Translation and Interpretation at Toros University, which began its educational activities by welcoming its first students in the 2019-2020 academic year, takes pride in being the "first" among the university programs in our region. Setting out with a competent academic staff and a distinctive educational program, our department has made significant progress in a short time through the versatile options it offers its students, becoming a regional center of attraction.

Mersin is a dynamic city where different languages and cultures have coexisted for centuries, effectively utilizing the advantages of being located at the crossroads of international trade routes. The fact that our city is an international transportation and logistics hub, possesses an advanced infrastructure where the banking and finance operations of regional countries are conducted, and hosts one of Turkey's most important Free Zones, increases the need for expert translators and interpreters who can manage cross-border communication and master the nuances of language day by day. This unique location offers endless opportunities for our future translator and interpreter candidates to put their theoretical knowledge into practice.

Program Structure and Educational Approach

In our Department of Translation and Interpretation, students are not only taught translation theories and linguistics; they are also provided with intensive applied training in fields such as written translation, computer-assisted translation, localization, and terminology management.

Our program focuses on enabling students to closely understand the social structures of global and regional cultures and to utilize their knowledge of the structure and function of languages at an advanced level. Following this comprehensive academic education, our graduates step into professional life fully equipped, holding a "Bachelor's Degree in Translation and Interpretation."
