Internship obligation:

Students of our department are required to complete an internship for a total of 40 working days in order to graduate. The Faculty Administrative Board determines how much of the internships that students enrolled with horizontal or vertical transfer have done while registered at another university are accepted and how much they need to do. According to the latest decision in force, vertical transfers are required to do internship for 20 more working days.

Internship time:

Internships are normally done in 2 parts, 20 working days each. The first internship can be done at the earliest in the summer of transitioning from the 2nd to the 3rd year and can be considered as 20 working days at the most. Those who wish can leave it to the next years by not doing it at all that summer. The remaining part of the internship (20 work-days 2nd internship + the part of the 1st internship that is rejected or not done) is done in the summer or in the following years, from the 3rd to the 4th grade. Normally, internships should be started after the summer make-up exams and completed before the courses of the next academic year begin. However, provided that you can document:

• If the student does not have a make-up exam, they can start their internship even after the final exams are over.
• He can do it during the teaching times of a semester in which he has not taken any courses. For example, a student who has completed all his courses in February and has only an internship left for graduation can do his internship immediately without waiting for the summer vacation.

Since Saturdays are normally a holiday, it is recommended that the student take a holiday that day, even if there is work on that day at the internship place. If a public holiday (such as August 30) falls on a weekday, an extra day should be continued instead of that day. If the student works a full working day on such a public holiday or Saturday and wants it to be counted as his/her internship, he/she must bring a document from the workplace stating that he/she is working full time on these days. Sundays are considered holidays in any case.

Internship place:

There must be at least one electrical-electronics or computer engineer at the internship place (communication, mechatronics, etc. engineering can also be considered within the scope of electrical-electronics engineering). The internship place can be a private or public institution. The seal or stamp of the workplace must be present in the internship book and registration slip. A study on internship issues in the workplace must be carried out effectively.

Internship topics:

Taking part in Analysis, System Design, Software Design, Software Development, Software Testing and Software Maintenance type jobs or projects, and participating in studies in a related research establishment (Tübitak, Universities, etc.) on Computer Science are also accepted as summer internships. Jobs such as Sales, Hardware Installation, Software Installation, Document Preparation, Web Page Preparation (without programming) will not be accepted as internships.

Internship application procedure and correspondence:

Most institutions do not consider the student's personal application for internship to be sufficient and request an official letter from the University. For this reason, determine the institution that you hope to be accepted for the internship, and fill in the relevant parts in a prepared letter you will receive from the department secretariat and submit it to the department secretariat for approval. After your letter is approved, make your internship application to the institution related to this letter. After receiving a letter of acceptance from this institution, you can start your internship at the appropriate time after you fill in the relevant parts of the internship book from the Faculty and have it approved by the Dean's Office.
At the end of the internship, have the first page of your notebook, weekly charts, internship evaluation form and every page of your daily reports approved by the workplace authorities. Also, tell them to fill in the internship registration slip (Internship Evaluation Report page) confidentially, put it in an envelope with "Confidential" written on it, and seal it. The envelope that meets these conditions can be mailed directly to the Department by your internship institution, or you can bring it by hand along with your internship book. If you do not have an urgent reason to be in graduation status, submit your internship book to the concerned Department person within the time interval announced by the Department.

Internship reports and evaluation procedures:

1) In the reports, it should be understood whether the student has learned enough according to the level of his internship. If it is considered sufficient, it is accepted, if it is considered insufficient, it is partially or completely rejected depending on the situation.
2) The accepted number of weeks will be an integer.
3) 5 full working days count as 1 week.
4) Content is more important than the number of pages. However, to give an idea, a 30-35-page report full of content and size can be considered sufficient for a 20-day internship.
5) In the reports, not short statements such as "we did this job", but expressions showing that he learned such as "we did this job for this reason, we observed such" or "I studied this, this works like this, it works like this" are taken into account.
6) Various devices or systems in the internship place
