The Occupational Health and Safety program was opened in the 2014-2015 academic year and started its academic activities. With the regulations published by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (new name Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services) within the framework of the harmonization laws of the European Union process, the employment of engineers and technical personnel responsible for occupational safety in the workplaces is obligatory. In addition to this, creating a healthy and safe environment by minimizing the risks in the workplaces, eliminating the hazards at the source, giving all the attention of the working person to his work in this environment, minimizing the legal, conscientious and financial responsibilities as a result of any accident, and thus contributing to the country's economy by increasing the profitability of the business are among the objectives of the Occupational Health and Safety Program.
In recent years, with the fact that our state has started to act more sensitively on Occupational Health and Safety in Turkey, it has gained importance to train experts in this field. As Toros University, raising knowledgeable, practical and qualified individuals is among our duties. Our professors, who are successful in their fields, convey all the necessary information to our students in detail, both in theory and in practice. All the tools used by the workers within the scope of Occupational Health and Safety are available in our school, and our students also learn to use these tools. Our trips to the factories transform the learned theoretical knowledge into practice and enable our students to be better equipped in business life.
In our Occupational Health and Safety program, in addition to common courses such as Turkish Language and Literature I-II, Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolution I-II, Foreign Language I-II (English I-II), Mathematics; Basic Electrical and Machinery Equipment, Basic Information Technologies, Environmental Health and Waste Management, Occupational Health and Safety I-II, Occupational Health and Occupational Diseases, Personal Protective Equipment and Warning Signs, Occupational Accidents and Reporting, Chemical Substances and Hazards, Ergonomics, Risk Analysis and Evaluation, Occupational Safety in Construction Works, Sectoral Occupational Health and Safety Practices are some of the important lessons given.
The duration of our program is two years, and we provide our students with the opportunity to find employment in sectors with a shortage of skilled labor in this field, as a result of the regulations introduced by the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331.
