TOROS UNIVERSITY
FACULTY OF ECONOMICS ADMINISTRATIVE AND SOCIAL SCIENCES
INTERN PRACTICES
Toros University Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences "Business Administration", "International Finance" and "International Trade and Logistics" departments take the last semester of the "Applied Education (Intern)" course, which is in the last semester (8th semester) of the curriculum of the students who have completed their courses in the department. It is a new approach developed for graduate students who will spend about 4 months -70 working days uninterruptedly in the industry/sector. Intern business course is an Intern practice and not an “internship”. It is beyond the internship application, to take part in the industry and service sector as an operator and to participate in studies. By adding the applications in the sector directly on top of the theoretical and practical training they received at the university, they are trained ready to enter the sector as an operator.
Intern practice in the departments of our faculty is a unique project in the country. The biggest problem of the industrialized cities in Anatolia is the problem of trained manpower. Graduates from these departments usually start working in institutions in metropolitan cities such as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir. In this context, the lack of trained manpower in Anatolia creates a problem. Thanks to the intern application, the fact that both the operators start working in new institutions and the future business contracts between the companies and the interns are an important gain in terms of employment for Turkey and the Çukurova Region. Creating jobs for new graduates and closing the manpower gap needed by the industry is an important step.
THE IMPORTANCE OF INTERN APPLICATION FOR THE STUDENT:
Interns learn practically the training they receive in theory. In this direction, it is also ensured that students get to know the sector and companies closely. In addition, interns gain an advantageous position by taking a specific reference from the company they work for, and they start their working life with high self-confidence and sufficient equipment as a result of the application.
IMPORTANCE OF INTERN APPLICATION FOR DEPARTMENTS:
With the intern practice, which is a very different practice from the internship, the coordination between the departments of our Faculty and the companies will increase, and the added value offered by the graduate students to the companies and society will increase. It is foreseen that this project will make an important contribution to the solution of the qualified personnel problem in our country. This application also improves University-Industry and Society collaboration and cooperation.
