Erasmus

Erasmus is a program initiated by the European Union to encourage cooperation among higher education institutions. It provides financial support for the exchange of students and staff members, as well as the development and implementation of joint projects between participating institutions. The program aims to enhance the quality of higher education in Europe and strengthen its European dimension.

The Erasmus program is open to participating countries, including the 27 member states of the European Union, non-EU countries that are members of the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), candidate countries for EU membership (such as Turkey and Croatia), and Switzerland. For all activities carried out under the Erasmus program, it is required that at least one of the parties involved is an institution from an EU member country.

There are two main components of student mobility within the Erasmus program:

Erasmus Student Mobility for Studies: This component allows students enrolled in an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) holder institution in Turkey to study abroad at another ECHE holder institution in a different European country for a period of 3 to 12 months within an academic year. During their stay abroad, students receive financial support, which is non-repayable and intended to assist with additional expenses associated with the mobility. It should be noted that the support provided does not cover all expenses but aims to contribute to the costs arising from the mobility. Selected students also have the option to participate as "Erasmus students without grant" if they choose not to receive financial support.

Erasmus Student Mobility for Traineeships: This component enables students to acquire practical training and work experience in a company or organization abroad related to their field of study. Through Erasmus traineeships, students have the opportunity to gain practical experience in their chosen professional field in a European country.

Many students from our department benefit from internships and/or study activities within the scope of Erasmus each semester. General information about the Toros University Erasmus program and the universities with which it has agreements are given in the table below.
