The assessment and evaluation process in the Opticianry Program aims to measure students’ knowledge, skills, and competency achievements in an objective, transparent, and multidimensional manner. This process is systematically implemented to monitor the level of attainment of program outcomes and to provide data for continuous improvement efforts.

Within the program, assessment and evaluation are structured not only to measure students’ theoretical knowledge but also to encompass their practical professional skills, technical measurement competencies, problem-solving abilities, and patient-centered service skills.

Students are evaluated in each course through midterm examinations, final examinations, quizzes, assignments, practical studies, laboratory activities, project presentations, and professional practice assessments. Depending on the nature of the course, various complementary assessment and evaluation methods may be employed.

In calculating the final grade for each course, the weightings specified in the Bologna Information Package are applied. A minimum score of 45 out of 100 in the final examination is required.

To be eligible to take the final examination, students are required to attend at least 70% of theoretical courses and 80% of practical courses.

A letter grading system is applied in the program. Grades of AA, BA, BB, CB, and CC are considered successful, while DC and DD are considered conditionally successful. For a student to be deemed successful in a course with a DC or DD grade, a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 is required.

Assessment and evaluation results are aligned with program outcomes, and based on the data obtained, course content, teaching methods, and assessment tools are regularly reviewed and updated.
