EDUCATION

The assessment and evaluation process in the Medical Laboratory Techniques Program aims to evaluate students’ knowledge, skills, and professional competencies in an objective, transparent, and multidimensional manner. This process is carried out systematically to monitor the achievement level of program outcomes and to provide data for continuous improvement.

Within the program, assessment and evaluation are structured to cover not only students’ theoretical knowledge but also their laboratory practices, sample collection and preparation processes, analytical methods, quality control, biosafety applications, and equipment usage skills.

Within each course, students are assessed through midterm exams, final exams, quizzes, assignments, laboratory and practical studies, skill assessments, clinical/laboratory practices, and case-based evaluations. Depending on the nature of the course, different and complementary assessment methods may be used.

When calculating the final grade for each course, the weightings specified in the Bologna Information Package of the relevant course are taken as the basis.

In order to be eligible to take the final exam, students are required to attend classes at the rates specified in the relevant regulations. Attendance is particularly important in practical and laboratory-based courses.

A letter grading system is applied in the program. Grades AA, BA, BB, CB, and CC are considered successful, while DC and DD are considered conditionally successful. For a student to be deemed successful in a course with a DC or DD grade, their cumulative grade point average must be at least 2.00.

Assessment and evaluation results are associated with program outcomes, and based on the data obtained, course content, teaching methods, and laboratory practice processes are regularly reviewed and updated. In this way, continuous improvement of the program’s educational quality is ensured.
