EDUCATION PLAN
The Medical Laboratory Techniques Program curriculum is structured to support the program educational objectives and learning outcomes. The curriculum has a comprehensive structure aimed at developing students’ fundamental healthcare knowledge, enhancing laboratory skills, and strengthening practical competencies.
The education plan consists of basic medical sciences courses, professional field courses, general education courses, and practical training components.
Basic Medical Sciences and Professional Field Courses
Within the program, students acquire knowledge in fundamental medical sciences such as anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, biochemistry, and microbiology, as well as in professional areas including clinical biochemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiological analysis, molecular diagnostic methods, and laboratory techniques.
These courses aim to strengthen students’ theoretical background in health sciences while improving their professional knowledge and skills related to the laboratory environment.
Courses are supported by practical sessions, laboratory activities, and skill-based training, enabling students to develop attention to detail, analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and technical competencies.
General Education
The program also includes general education courses that support professional development. In this context, it is aimed to develop students’ competencies such as:
- Professional ethics awareness
- Teamwork skills
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Responsibility and work discipline
Foreign Language Education
Foreign language courses included in the program support students in following basic terminology in the field of health and laboratory sciences and in communicating effectively at an international level.
Practical Training and Professional Experience
Students gain professional experience through practical courses, laboratory studies, and compulsory vocational training. During this process, students adapt to the laboratory environment, actively participate in analytical processes, and improve their professional competencies by taking part in all stages from specimen acceptance to reporting.
Continuous Improvement
The education plan is regularly reviewed and improved in line with course evaluation results, program outcome analyses, and stakeholder feedback. Thus, the currency, effectiveness, and alignment of the program with the needs of the healthcare sector are continuously ensured.
