The Medical Imaging Techniques Program curriculum is structured to support the program’s educational objectives and learning outcomes. The curriculum adopts a holistic approach that enhances students’ foundational healthcare knowledge, strengthens their professional skills, and develops their practical competencies.
The curriculum consists of basic health sciences courses, professional field courses, general education courses, and practical training components.
Basic Health Sciences and Professional Courses
Within the program, students acquire knowledge in fundamental health sciences such as anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and pharmacology, as well as in specialized areas including radiological imaging methods, radiation safety, radiation biology, nuclear medicine, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and ultrasonography.
These courses aim to strengthen students’ theoretical background in healthcare while also developing their professional skills related to medical imaging processes.
Courses are supported by practical sessions, laboratory activities, skills training, and clinical applications, enabling students to develop attention to detail, responsibility, problem-solving abilities, and professional practice skills.
General Education
The program also includes general education courses that support professional development. In this context, it aims to develop students’ competencies in:
- Professional ethics awareness
- Teamwork skills
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Responsibility and work discipline
Foreign Language Education
Foreign language courses included in the program support students in following basic medical terminology and enable them to communicate effectively at an international level.
Practical Training and Professional Experience
Students gain professional experience through practical courses, laboratory studies, and compulsory professional practice. During this process, students actively participate in radiology and imaging units, gaining hands-on experience in equipment operation, patient preparation, and imaging procedures, thereby enhancing their professional competencies.
Continuous Improvement
The curriculum is regularly reviewed and updated based on course evaluation results, program outcome analyses, and stakeholder feedback. In this way, the program’s relevance, effectiveness, and alignment with the needs of the healthcare sector are continuously ensured.
