EDUCATION PLAN
The curriculum of the First and Emergency Aid Program is structured in a way that supports the program educational objectives and program learning outcomes. The curriculum has a holistic structure aimed at improving students’ basic healthcare knowledge, enhancing their professional skills, and strengthening their practical competencies.
The education plan consists of basic medical sciences courses, professional field courses, general education courses, and practical training components.
Basic Health Sciences and Professional Field Courses
Within the program, students acquire knowledge in basic health sciences such as anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and pharmacology, as well as in areas including emergency patient care, basic and advanced life support, trauma management, emergency medical services, ambulance services, patient assessment, and emergency management. These courses aim to strengthen students’ theoretical background in healthcare while developing their professional skills related to pre-hospital emergency care.
Courses are supported by practical sessions, laboratory activities, simulation training, skill-based applications, and field/clinical practices to enhance students’ attention, rapid decision-making, responsibility, problem-solving, and professional practice skills.
General Education
The program also includes general education courses that support professional development. In this context, it is aimed to develop students’ competencies such as:
- Professional ethics awareness
- Teamwork skills
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Responsibility and work discipline
Foreign Language Education
Foreign language courses included in the program support students in following basic terminology in the healthcare field and communicating at an international level.
Practical Training and Professional Experience
Students gain professional experience through practical courses, laboratory studies, simulation training, and compulsory professional practice processes. During this process, students actively participate in scene management, patient assessment, emergency interventions, and ambulance service practices, thereby improving their professional competencies.
Continuous Improvement
The education plan is regularly reviewed and improved in line with course evaluation results, program outcome analyses, and stakeholder feedback. In this way, the currency, effectiveness, and alignment of the program with the needs of the healthcare sector are continuously ensured.
