The Mentorship Program of the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Toros University, is a voluntary program designed to support the professional development of undergraduate students. The program complements the theoretical knowledge students gain in their courses with professional observation and experience under the guidance of experienced mentors in the field.
Nature of the Program
Participation in the program is not mandatory and is entirely voluntary. Choosing not to participate has no effect on a student’s academic progress. The Mentorship Program is independent of the compulsory internship in the undergraduate curriculum and does not replace it. The program lasts for a maximum of one semester. Participating students hold observer status and take part only in activities deemed appropriate by their mentors. Weekly attendance days are planned together with the mentor so as not to interfere with the student’s academic responsibilities.
The program is carried out in collaboration with institutions across various fields of psychology, including public and private institutions, research centers, educational and healthcare institutions, and non-governmental organizations. All stages of the program are conducted in accordance with the ethical principles of the psychology profession and confidentiality principles.
Application and Evaluation Process
The program is announced by the department each semester. Applications are submitted with the Student Application Form and a Motivation Letter, and are evaluated by the Head of Department and the Program Coordinator. Evaluation is based on grade point average (50%), motivation (40%), and prior experience (10%). Student placements are made according to the quotas of partner institutions.
At the end of the program, students are evaluated by their mentors. Feedback is collected from both students and mentors to support the continuous improvement of the program.
