The Operating Room Services Program, which began its academic activities in the 2014-2015 academic year, is a two-year associate degree program. Taking into account the increasing need for healthcare personnel, the program aims to train experienced auxiliary surgical healthcare professionals who can prepare and use all surgical materials used in the operating room, directly participate in surgical teams, provide assistance to surgeons and operating room nurses during surgery, and meet the demands in this field.

The essence of the education is based on training students to be able to recognize all surgical materials in the operating room, use them as auxiliary personnel, and assist in the preparation and utilization of advanced technology materials used in surgeries.

In addition to common courses such as Turkish Language and Literature I and II, Atatürk's Principles and Revolution History I and II, English I and II, the Operating Room Services Program includes fundamental courses found in all health programs, such as Medical Ethics, Medical Terminology, Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology and Medication Applications, Biochemistry, and First Aid. It also includes specific theoretical and practical courses related to the operating room, such as Sterilization Principles and Methods, Basic Health Interventions and Techniques, Surgical Diseases I and II. Furthermore, the theoretical courses given for three terms are reinforced with the applied professional practice course given in the fourth term.

For the professional practice course, we have collaborations with numerous public hospitals and private sector hospitals, and the course is conducted in these institutions under the control and support of program coordinators.

The aim of the program is to meet the increasing demand for skilled personnel in the dynamic field of the healthcare sector.

Moreover, in this program, our goals include educating individuals who follow and interpret the legal regulations regarding operating room technology, adhere to professional ethics, possess knowledge of sterilization methods and aseptic techniques, adapt to developments by staying up-to-date, are sensitive to current issues in the field of operating room technology, and follow advancements.

Career opportunities for the Operating Room Services Program students include the possibility of obtaining dual diplomas within the framework of Double Major Programs (DMP) in programs such as Emergency and First Aid, Anesthesia, Dialysis, Medical Imaging Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Physiotherapy, and Opticianry. They can also qualify for a bachelor's degree by successfully passing the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) and pursuing a bachelor's degree in Nursing, Nursing and Health Services, or Emergency and Disaster Management. Graduates can work in operating rooms in private and public hospitals as operating room technicians or as employees and supervisors in sterilization units in sterilization departments under the title of sterilization unit worker.
