About Toros

Toros University was founded in 2009 by the Mersin Education Foundation (MEV) and represents the latest link in the long-standing educational tradition of the Private Toros Schools, established in 1964. The university began its academic activities by admitting its first students in the 2010–2011 academic year.

Drawing on the responsibility and experience inherited from its past, Toros University today is not only a higher education institution but also the embodiment of an idea and a culture. Located in the city center, its campuses position the university as a “city university” in Mersin, the pearl of the Eastern Mediterranean. With its motto, “Beyond Education, Within Life,” Toros University is rapidly advancing toward its goals.

Toros University comprises the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Vocational School of Health Services, the Vocational School, and the Graduate School. Within its academic units, the university offers education in 15 undergraduate, 17 associate degree, and 12 graduate programs.

Equipped with modern technological infrastructure and supported by a strong academic staff, Toros University aims to contribute to the design of the future and to be recognized internationally. It strives to equip its students with critical thinking skills and a lifelong learning mindset, while raising individuals who are sensitive to regional and global issues, contribute to scientific, technological, and cultural advancements at an international level, and strongly uphold contemporary, universal, and ethical values.

By collaborating closely with key industries and sectors in Mersin and the surrounding region, Toros University involves advisory boards—comprising industry representatives, alumni, current students, and academics—in the planning and implementation of all its activities, including curriculum development and the opening of new programs. As a result of this strong cooperation, “Internship Engineering” or “Professional Training” programs are successfully implemented in all departments of the Faculties of Engineering, Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, and Health Sciences. Additionally, “Workplace Training Applications” are carried out in 20 programs within the vocational schools, effectively eliminating the lack of experience, which is one of the biggest barriers to employment after graduation.

Through its strong academic staff, the School of Foreign Languages provides students with the communication skills necessary to compete globally. Furthermore, through the “Erasmus Exchange” and “Traineeship Mobility” programs, students have the opportunity to gain academic and professional experience in European Union countries.
