Introduction

The Software Engineering Department at Toros University is an undergraduate program that aims to educate engineers who can adapt to rapidly evolving information technologies by combining strong theoretical foundations with a practice-oriented educational approach. Our department seeks to cultivate individuals who can think analytically, identify, model, and solve software problems, and who are innovative and entrepreneurial.

During the education process, an active learning approach is adopted. Through applied courses, software laboratories, and project-based learning activities, students are encouraged to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world problems. Project courses enable students to gain comprehensive experience in the software development life cycle, including system design, analysis, testing, and reporting, within an integrated engineering framework.

Within the program, compulsory internships and industrial engineering training provide students with direct interaction with the industry and the opportunity to experience professional software development processes. This structure aims to strengthen the professional competencies of our graduates and prepare them as individuals ready for working life.

The department offers education in various areas of specialization such as software development, artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, software architecture, embedded systems, and mobile/web application development. Thanks to a wide range of technical elective courses, students can specialize in areas of interest, while double major and minor programs allow them to gain interdisciplinary competencies. Additionally, through the Erasmus exchange program, students have the opportunity to gain international experience.

Established in 2009 under the name Computer Engineering, the department graduated its first students in 2014 and continues its education, research, and community service activities with a commitment to continuous improvement. With our academic staff, laboratory and software development infrastructure, and quality-oriented management approach, we prepare our students both for the industry and for graduate studies.
