Compulsory Internship and Professional Practice Courses
External Summer Internship:
All students are required to complete the BDY 324 External Summer Internship, which takes place at the end of the 6th semester during the summer term and covers 30 working days. These internships are conducted in healthcare institutions approved by the Department Chair, aiming to enable students to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired in theoretical and laboratory courses to real working environments.
Internship Courses:
The internships included in the 7th semester—BDY 407 Clinical Nutrition (Adult), BDY 403 Clinical Nutrition (Pediatric), BDY 405 Nutrition in Public Health, and BDY 409 Food Service Systems Internship—are compulsory and are carried out over 70 working days in affiliated hospitals under the supervision of responsible dietitians and academic staff.
Professional Practice Course (Internship): In the 8th semester of the curriculum, BDY 410 Professional Practice Course (Internship) is conducted in hospitals, comprising 36 hours per week and a total of 70 working days within the semester. During this period, students, based on the knowledge gained from the internship courses taken in the 7th semester, identify the field they are interested in after graduation (Pediatrics, Adult, Public Health, or Food Service Systems) and carry out their internship with the approval of the department internship coordinator.
Although students have fulfilled the requirements for graduation with their theoretical knowledge and skills, this process aims to further develop their professional competence and decision-making responsibility for post-graduation practice. Through the internship, students gain clinical decision-making experience before graduation.
