Organizational Structure And Decision-making Process

Decision-Making Processes and External Stakeholder Involvement

In our department, the planning, updating, and quality assurance processes of educational activities are carried out in line with the principles of participation, transparency, and continuous improvement. The Department Board serves as the primary decision-making body, and processes are conducted within a multi-stakeholder framework.

To ensure the program’s alignment with sectoral developments, external stakeholder participation is systematically integrated into decision-making processes. In this context, the Department Advisory Board consists of representatives from interior architecture and design offices, professionals actively involved in implementation and construction processes, representatives from the building and materials industry, and department alumni.

Functioning of the Advisory Board and Evidence-Based Documentation:
The Department Advisory Board convenes at least once a year under the coordination of the Head of Department and in accordance with a predefined agenda. All discussions and decisions are formally documented in meeting minutes and compiled into the “Interior Architecture Department Advisory Board Report.” These reports are shared with relevant academic units, archived within the department’s quality assurance system, and ensure traceability.

The meetings primarily address:

  • Current design trends and technological advancements in the field of interior architecture,
  • Knowledge, skills, and competencies required by the sector,
  • Identified deficiencies based on alumni feedback,
  • Expectations regarding sustainability, user-centered design, and implementation processes.

Impact on Curriculum and Continuous Improvement:
Feedback obtained from the Advisory Board is analyzed by the Education Committee, reported, and submitted to the Department Board for approval. Based on these evaluations, curriculum updates are implemented and systematically documented.

Within this scope:

  • Studio courses are aligned with contemporary design problems,
  • Course content related to digital modeling and visualization tools is enhanced,
  • AI-supported design approaches are integrated into the curriculum,
  • Course content focusing on sustainable materials and construction details is further developed.

All improvements are evidence-based and can be verified through course plans, course contents, and official board decisions.

Through this comprehensive structure, the program ensures the education of interior architects who can adapt to sectoral needs, possess up-to-date design and implementation skills, think critically, and adhere to professional ethical standards.
