Program History and Changes
The Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences (FEAS) was established by Law No. 5913 on Amendments to the Law on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions, published in the Official Gazette dated July 7, 2009, and numbered 27281. Within this framework, the "International Trade" and "International Trade and Transportation" programs were opened within the faculty by the decision of the Higher Education Executive Board dated March 1, 2011. The first students were admitted to the International Trade Department (English) in the 2011-2012 academic year.
By the decision of the Higher Education Executive Board dated May 10, 2012, the name of the "International Trade Department (English)" was changed to "International Trade and Logistics Department (English)"; and the existing students were transferred to this department. Since the 2012-2013 academic year, the department has continued to admit students under the name "International Trade and Logistics Department (English)". During this period, the department curriculum was prepared taking into account current developments in international trade and logistics, and structured to be equivalent to similar programs in the USA and European universities.
In accordance with the decision dated June 29, 2022, starting from the 2022-2023 academic year, the language of instruction for the department was changed to Turkish, considering the importance of education in the native language, and it began to conduct its educational activities as the "International Trade and Logistics Department (Turkish)". Currently, in addition to cultural courses, the curriculum includes courses that respond to the needs of the job market and aim to provide practical and professional competencies.
To enable students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge with practice and gain professional experience, the department implements a 7+1 education system. Accordingly, students who successfully complete their courses in the first seven semesters participate in a 70-day internship program in the eighth and final semester. Students can complete their internships at national and international institutions; they can also benefit from this practice within the scope of cooperation protocols signed between the department and industry representatives. Students who successfully complete all obligations in the program are awarded a "Bachelor's Degree in International Trade and Logistics".
