INTERNSHIP IN INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND LOGISTICS

(Applied International Trade and Logistics Training)

The International Trade and Logistics (ITL) Department of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences (FEAS) at Toros University offers an "Applied Logistics Training Course" in its final semester (8th semester), conducted practically in the sector. Applied International Trade and Logistics Training is a new approach developed to allow ITL Department students who have successfully completed their departmental courses and are in their final semester (8th semester) to spend their time in the sector. Applied International Trade and Logistics Training is not an "internship." It involves working as an employee or manager in the sector for approximately 4 months without interruption (at least 70 working days), going far beyond a typical internship, and actively participating in all activities. One of the most significant problems in the foreign trade and logistics sectors is the need for experienced personnel. The Applied International Trade and Logistics Training, shaped by the needs of the sector and launched in the 2018-2019 academic year, has been successfully implemented, and a significant number of our students who completed the training have had the opportunity to start working at the workplace where they completed their Applied Logistics Training.

Applied Logistics Training Participation Requirements: Every student who has completed the 7th (seventh) semester of the Toros University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Applied Logistics, and has a general grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.00, is considered an Applied Logistics Training student, provided that the number of courses they have failed is a maximum of 2 (two).

Attendance and Success Status: The Applied Logistics Training course covers one semester (seventy working days) of education, and attendance is mandatory at 100% based on working days. At the end of the semester, the student's success grade is determined based on the assessment of the supervising faculty member and/or lecturer regarding the progress made, the opinion of the relevant workplace representative, and the student's final project and presentation. This is done in accordance with the Applied Logistics Training Success Principles, using one of the letter grades defined in the relevant articles of the "Toros University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Training Regulations" regarding success grades. Students with a success grade of at least CC are considered successful in this course.

Workplace-Student Matching: To ensure the effective and efficient conduct of Applied International Trade and Logistics Training, a web portal software has been developed by our university to find workplaces where students will undertake their practical training, monitor the training processes, and determine their success levels. On the portal called Toros University Sector/Industry Cooperation Center (TORSİM, http://torsim.toros.edu.tr/), company/institution registrations and student requests for practical training are received, and the requesting companies are reviewed. Suitable company requests are then announced to the students. Students can make their choices based on the quotas of the companies. Students' resumes play a significant role in the companies' selection process. If a company accepts the applications of students who have chosen them, the "Company-Student Matching" process is completed, and the students begin their Applied Logistics Training.
