The educational plan of the Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program is structured to support the Program Educational Objectives and Program Outcomes. The curriculum has an integrated structure that strengthens students’ foundation in basic sciences, provides essential engineering knowledge, and enhances their professional competencies.
The educational plan consists of mathematics and basic sciences, fundamental engineering sciences, field-specific professional courses, general education courses, and design applications.
Mathematics and Basic Sciences
Within the program, students acquire a strong theoretical foundation in mathematics, physics, material science, and probability/statistics. These courses provide the fundamental knowledge required for modeling and analyzing engineering problems.
Basic science courses are supported by experimental studies and laboratory applications, enabling students to transform theoretical knowledge into practice.
Fundamental Engineering and Field-Specific Courses
The curriculum includes courses covering the core areas of electrical and electronics engineering, such as circuit theory, electronics, digital systems, electromagnetic fields, control systems, power systems, communication systems, microprocessors, and embedded systems.
These courses are supported by theoretical instruction, laboratory applications, and project work to develop students’ analytical thinking, problem-solving, and system design skills.
General Education
The program includes general education courses that support the social, ethical, and communication dimensions of the engineering profession. Within this scope, students develop:
-
Professional ethical awareness
-
Teamwork skills
-
Written and oral communication competencies
-
Awareness of social responsibility
Foreign Language Education
Foreign language courses within the program support students in following technical literature and communicating effectively at an international level.
Design and Practical Experience
Students gain comprehensive engineering design experience through laboratory courses, project-based studies, internship practices, and the Graduation Thesis.
Within the scope of the Graduation Thesis, students address realistic engineering problems and develop solutions by considering technical requirements, engineering standards, and various constraints. This process ensures the acquisition of professional practice competence prior to graduation.
Continuous Improvement
The educational plan is regularly reviewed and improved in line with course evaluation results, program outcome analyses, and stakeholder feedback. In this way, the relevance and effectiveness of the program are continuously ensured.
In light of all these components, our education plan has been designed to meet the following criteria established by MÜDEK.
Components of our education plan:
a. It includes 32 local credits of mathematics and basic science education. Basic science education is tailored to Industrial Engineering and supported by experimental studies.
b. Engineering vocational education has been designed in our Industrial Engineering department to be suitable for fundamental Industrial Engineering sciences, exceeding 90 ECTS credits.
c. Our curriculum has been prepared with a general education approach that complements the content of the Industrial Engineering profession.
d.Industrial Engineering is a program taught in Turkish and includes 9 local credits worth of English language courses at the introductory level.
