English Preparatory Program at Toros University

Since the departments of the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences of Toros University offer 100% or 30% foreign language education, undergraduate students in these departments must successfully complete the one-year Compulsory Preparatory Program. Participation in the Preparatory Program is optional for students of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, School of Health Sciences and Vocational School.

At the beginning of each academic year, a Foreign Language Proficiency Exam is held on the day, time and place to be announced by the Rectorate. Students who cannot prove that they know the language in which they will receive education and training at a sufficient level with documents accepted by the university are taken to the English proficiency exam given by the English Preparatory School (Sample exam is in the Preparatory School section of our website).

Students who score 60 out of 100 in the proficiency exam are considered successful. Students who are not successful in the proficiency exam may attend the English Preparatory School for a maximum of two academic years. There is also an optional summer semester program. Newly enrolled students who score 59 out of 100 and below in the Foreign Language Proficiency Exam must take the Placement Exam. After studying in the Foreign Language Preparatory Program, students who are not successful in the Proficiency Exam may take the Placement Exam again.

in order to be exempt from the Preparatory Program; undergraduate students and associate degree (Vocational School) students who are considering vertical transfer must score 60 (sixty) out of 100 (one hundred) points from the English Proficiency Exam. In addition, students who get enough points from the following internationally recognized exams accepted by our university are also exempted from the English Preparatory Program.

For Undergraduate and Vertical Transfer Associate Degree (Vocational School) Students

The results of the exams conducted by ÖSYM must be submitted to the university before the start of the academic year. Students who succeed in these exams during the year can only start their faculties in the following semester.

English Preparatory Program Abroad

For our students who want to study the English Preparatory Program abroad, it can be done in language schools abroad with the approval of our university.

The duration of the preparatory program abroad is 24-26 weeks and students will be taken to the orientation program for 2 weeks before going abroad. Students who will benefit from the preparatory program abroad will be informed in detail after the registration process.
