Our University Alevism-Bektashism Application and Research Center was published in the Official Gazette dated 28/08/2015 and numbered 29459 and became operational on 01/07/2016.
Since Alevi-Bektashis have experienced religious disconnections in history, they have lived their worship with oral traditions rather than written sources and continue to maintain their religious thoughts. Therefore, religious belief information has been hidden underground for a long time. However, due to rapid social change in the 1990s, such as the privatization of the media and the development of information technology, various "Alevisms" are emerging.
The aim of our center is to conduct scientific research and analysis on Alevism-Bektashism in an objective manner, without being based on any particular political or social opinion.
Our center consists of 1 Director, 1 Deputy Director and 3 members of the Board of Directors within the Rectorate of Toros University. In addition, the Advisory Board consisting of academic staff specialized in Alevism-Bektashism, researcher-writers and representatives of non-governmental organizations operating in the Mersin region will also contribute to the activities of our Center.
