Toros University Hosts Earthquake And Fire Training By Afad

Toros University hosted an important event to raise awareness about disasters and ensure that students and staff are prepared for potential disasters. The training, held at the Toros University Bahçelievler Conference Hall, provided comprehensive information on earthquake and fire topics by trainers from the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).

The training covered measures to be taken before an earthquake, correct actions to take during an earthquake, and detailed explanations of safe evacuation and first aid procedures after an earthquake. Participants were informed about basic safety steps, particularly the “drop, cover, and hold on” technique during an earthquake.

Regarding fires, the trainers provided practical information on firefighting techniques, extinguishing methods according to fire types, and the selection of extinguishing devices suitable for different situations. In addition, measures to prevent fires and risk reduction methods were shared in detail.

At the end of the training, an evacuation drill was organized to reinforce what the participants had learned. During the simulated tremor, those in the building were evacuated in a controlled manner, while the evacuation process was observed and evaluated by emergency teams.
