TOROS UNIVERSITY Joins an EU COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) Action
As part of the Faculty of Engineering’s goal of expanding its international academic collaborations, Dr. İsmail UZUN, a faculty member in the Software Engineering Department, has been accepted into the following Working Groups within COST Action CA24121, titled “Knowledge Graphs in the Era of Large Language Models (KGELL)”:
- WG2 – Domain-specific tasks of LLMs based on KGs: The use of large language models in domain-specific tasks based on knowledge graphs.
- WG3 – KG Construction assisted by LLMs: The construction and development of knowledge graphs with the assistance of large language models.
- WG6 – Evaluation and Validation Frameworks: The development of frameworks for evaluating and validating methods.
About the COST Programme
COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is a programme within the European research framework that supports international scientific collaboration and knowledge sharing by bringing together researchers from across Europe and beyond. It enables researchers from different countries and disciplines to work on common topics, share their expertise, and develop new collaborations.
About Knowledge Graphs in the Era of Large Language Models (KGELL)
KGELL is an international scientific collaboration network that aims to bring together two important approaches in artificial intelligence: knowledge graphs and large language models (LLMs). Knowledge graphs represent relationships between people, institutions, concepts, and events in a structured and interconnected way, making information easier to trace and explore. Large language models, meanwhile, offer significant capabilities in areas such as text comprehension, question answering, and content generation. However, these models may sometimes generate inaccurate information or have limitations in specific areas of expertise. KGELL aims to leverage the strengths of both approaches to contribute to the development of more reliable AI applications in key fields.
Within the scope of this Action, researchers will collaborate to improve the use of large language models across different specialist domains, facilitate the creation and updating of knowledge graphs with the assistance of these models, and reliably evaluate the performance of the resulting methods.
Dr. İsmail Uzun’s participation in WG2, WG3, and WG6 will contribute to international scientific collaboration in the development of domain-specific AI applications, particularly in telecommunications, the construction of knowledge graphs, and the evaluation of the approaches developed.
