The 3Rd Coffee Symposium Was Held At Toros University
The 3rd Coffee Symposium, organized by the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Toros University's Faculty of Fine Arts, Design, and Architecture, was successfully held online on August 27, 2025.
The symposium's opening ceremony began with speeches by Symposium Chair Prof. Dr. Bahar Taner and Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Uğurcan Akyüz. The opening highlighted coffee's historical and cultural journey, its importance in gastronomy, and the symposium's scientific contributions.
Chaired by Prof. Dr. Bahar Taner, the symposium addressed the cultural and economic impacts of coffee worldwide and its place in Turkish gastronomic culture from a scientific perspective. Despite being grown in tropical climates and mountainous plateaus, coffee, one of the world's most consumed beverages, was evaluated from multiple angles through the contributions of academics from different disciplines, focusing on history, culture, economics, and gastronomy.
The event provided an opportunity to share scientific knowledge about coffee and was also significant in terms of inspiring new research and laying the groundwork for interdisciplinary collaborations.
