Meaningful Book Presentation At Toros University
Toros University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Arıözü welcomed Elmas Ekici, a senior student in the Translation and Interpretation Department, to his office. During the visit, Ekici signed her first book, titled “Why Did It End?”, and presented it to Rector Prof. Dr. Arıözü.
Born on July 30, 1992, Elmas Ekici stands out as a powerful writer who has crowned her life's struggle with academic success and literary production. Continuing her education at Toros University's Translation and Interpretation Department, Ekici believes in the transformative power of words, both in translation and in emotions.
In her first book, “Why Did It End?”, Ekici presents her life story to the reader with complete sincerity, vividly describing a mother's unwavering resistance and her struggle to cling to life again “from the 11th floor, from the edge of the precipice.” The work is not merely an autobiography; it also serves as a manifesto of a woman's rebirth from the ashes and her clinging to hope.
Elmas Ekici, who combines her discipline in education with her passion for writing, is now using her expertise in translation to convey her emotions to the world. Approaching the question “Why Did It End?” not as an ending but as the gateway to a stronger beginning, the author inspires as a living example of determination and hope.
As Toros University, we are always by the side of our students, who we are proud of not only for their academic achievements but also for their strong stance in life. We wholeheartedly support the courageous and inspiring journey of Elmas Ekici, who is part of our university, and invite all book lovers to be a part of this sincere and compelling story.
