Awareness Event For The Visually Impaired Hosted By Toros University
The School of Health Services at Toros University (SHMYO) held the “International Disability Week Conference” as part of Disability Awareness Week. At the conference, organized by Lecturers Mikail Nahırcı and Emre Kundakçı, Evinar Tamur, a student at Toros University, shared the challenges and experiences she has faced in her life as a person with a disability with the participants. The conference continued with a question-and-answer session.
Meanwhile, SHMYO organized a notable empathy event aimed at raising social awareness for visually impaired individuals. As part of the event organized by Lecturer Mikail Nahırcı, a “Dark Corridor” approximately 12 meters long was created.
Set up in the backyard of the 45 Evler Campus, the dark corridor offered visitors the opportunity to experience the challenges visually impaired individuals face in daily life. Participants attempted to build empathy by navigating through a completely dark environment.
The event, which began on May 13, 2026, will remain open for visits until May 15, 2026.
