The assessment and evaluation process in the Toros University Software Engineering Undergraduate Program aims to evaluate students’ knowledge, skills, and competencies through an objective, transparent, and multidimensional approach. This process is carried out systematically to monitor the level at which program outcomes are achieved and to provide data for continuous improvement efforts.
Within the scope of the program, assessment and evaluation are structured to cover not only students’ theoretical knowledge but also their algorithmic thinking, software development, problem-solving, system design, and practical implementation skills.
In each course, students are evaluated through midterm exams, final exams, quizzes, programming assignments, laboratory work, project development processes, software presentations, and practical assessments. Depending on the nature of the course, different and complementary assessment tools may be used.
When calculating the final grade for each course, the evaluation percentages specified in the Bologna Information Package of the relevant course are taken as a basis. Achieving at least 45 points in the final exam is one of the fundamental requirements for passing the course.
In order to be eligible to take the final exam, students are required to attend at least 70% of theoretical courses and at least 80% of practical and laboratory courses.
A letter grading system is applied in the program. Grades AA, BA, BB, CB, and CC are considered successful, while DC and DD are conditionally successful. For a student to be considered successful in a course with a grade of DC or DD, their cumulative GPA must be at least 2.00.
Assessment and evaluation results are associated with program outcomes, and based on the data obtained, course contents, teaching methods, and evaluation tools are regularly reviewed and updated. In this way, the sustainability and continuous improvement of educational quality in the Software Engineering Undergraduate Program are ensured.
