Institutional Services and Resources We Offer Our Students
As the Department of Industrial Engineering at Toros University, we support our students’ academic and professional development through our institution’s robust infrastructure and financial resources. The primary services and opportunities offered to our students through our institutional mechanisms are as follows:
1. Internships, Internships (Applied Engineering), and Industry Support
To support our department’s practice-oriented educational structure, various institutional benefits are provided to our students:
* Pre-arranged Internship and Internship Quotas: Our students are supported through industry collaborations coordinated by the Dean’s Office, the Career Center, and the Department Chair. In particular, ready internship placements are provided for our students through bilateral agreements with the Mersin Tarsus Organized Industrial Zone (MTOSB) and logistics and manufacturing companies in our region.
*Insurance and Coverage: For all students participating in applied engineering internships (70 working days) and summer internships, “Workplace Accident and Occupational Disease Insurance Premiums” are covered by the university’s Financial Affairs and Student Affairs units as a legal requirement and institutional service.
2. Field Observation and Technical Tour Opportunities
* Transportation and Logistical Support: Technical tours are organized to enable our Industrial Engineering students to see their theoretical knowledge applied in the field and to examine production and service systems firsthand. Vehicle and logistical support for these tours is provided by the Toros University Health, Culture, and Sports (SKS) Directorate.
3. Career Planning and Internationalization Services
* Career Days and Counseling: Through the Career Days organized annually by the Faculty of Engineering, our students are connected with professionals in the workforce. Additionally, our faculty members provide one-on-one career counseling support via “yetenekkapisi.gov.tr,” and the “Career Planning” course is a required part of the curriculum for first-year students.
*Erasmus and Exchange Programs: Through frequent meetings and events organized by our Office of International Relations, we encourage student participation in international mobility programs (Erasmus) and provide relevant information.
4. Library, Study Areas, and IT Infrastructure
* 24/7 Access: Our students can use the library’s physical spaces 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can borrow materials using their university ID cards.
* Hardware and Electronic Resources: The library’s reading room features computers designated for students’ academic work. All students can easily access print resources and international academic databases through the library’s QR code system or online automation platform.
5. Accessible Campus and Inclusive Education Supports
Through the Toros University Disability Student Unit, the academic and physical needs of our students with disabilities are institutionally ensured:
* Physical Infrastructure: Our campus buildings are equipped with elevators, wheelchair ramps, and accessible walkways.
* Educational Material Support: For students with visual impairments, instructors provide audio descriptions of visual materials used in classes, and students are provided with the opportunity to record lectures using audio recording devices.
