The Software Engineering Department of the Faculty of Engineering at Toros University hosted the international Gray Scott School 2026 summer school as a satellite site (local participation center), organized by LAPP (Annecy Particle Physics Laboratory) and Centre de compétence HPC, HPDA et IA (CC-FR) in France. Held between June 22 and July 3, 2026, the event provided participants with the opportunity to follow current technologies and applications in High-Performance Computing (HPC) simultaneously with live lectures from France, with coordinator support at the Toros University Faculty of Engineering. During the event, participants had the chance to receive theoretical and practical training on current technologies such as CPU and GPU-based programming, parallel computing, CUDA, OpenMP, Kokkos, C++, Python, and PyTorch. This year, over 900 students from different countries and 19 local participation centers from 12 countries participated in the organization, with Toros University being the only local participation center from Türkiye within the international education network.
The satellite site program at Toros University was supported by Dr. İsmail Uzun, assistant professor in the Department of Software Engineering, and research assistant Sonay Duman. In addition to our university students, participants from two other universities and a private company from Türkiye also joined the program through Toros University. Thus, the event not only provided our university students with the opportunity to enhance their skills in a current topic but also increased the visibility of Toros University's pioneering role in the education of cutting-edge technologies throughout Turkey.
By hosting this international event, the Department of Software Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering enables students and stakeholders to participate in and contribute to the latest technology topics worldwide and to build international research collaborations.
